bob #728
Age: 2 years old
Color & Breed: Red & White Basset
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 56 pounds
-
Bob #728 is a 2-year-old red and white neutered male, weighing in at a very huggable 56 pounds. He’s a big lovebug towards his person with tons of energy that he directs to every dog he meets. He’s a fan of fetch and play and chase and run and any and every other active verb you can think of. Sometimes he can be a little much, but that just means he loves you! He loves to go-go-go and needs an active home with an equally enthusiastic dog partner or a family who loves activity.
Bob doesn’t like to be alone, although he is fine crated while his foster family is away. He enjoys snuggling under blankets during down time, and will do about anything for Cheerios. He’s got a killer recall at the dog park and is sensitive to his person’s needs. He also loves to swim!
Bob’s a big, strong boy who has been compared to an Energizer bunny. If you’ve been looking for a basset with the physical ability to keep up, he’s the guy for you!
Bob needs an experienced home with structure and without kids due to resource guarding tendencies. He’s learning how to share and other useful manners during his training sessions, which we encourage any adopter to continue. Look at that dopey face. Everyone needs a Bob.

Ona came to MNBR when her family decided they no longer wanted to breed her. Ona is dog and people friendly.
We will update her bio as we learn more about her.
Unfortunately, Ona has tested positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

Red was pulled from a kill shelter in Oklahoma where he’d been sitting for months, unknowingly heartworm positive and moving closer to death row everyday. Red is a happy, spunky boy that is dog and people friendly and can’t wait to start the rest of his life.
We will update his bio as we learn more about him.

Alex #799
Age: 3 years old
Color & Breed: Brown Basset Mix
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 46 pounds
-
Alex #799 is a 3-year-old spayed female basset mix who was living life on the lam in Texas and is now learning how to be Minnesota nice. Everything smells different here (and colder!) and she is loving it!
If you live near a dog park, Alex would love to check it out. She’s looking to meet some confident dogs with good leash manners to look up to. Alex is dying to be included in whatever people or dogs are doing (especially if it includes face and neck rubs! And good luck going to the bathroom alone ever again.)
Alex is looking forward to defending her future home from big, bad dog toys. She could be fine as an only dog if someone is there with her but would also enjoy being part of a pack. Bring Alex home and have fun trying to figure out what other type of hound she’s mixed with! (Is it a bloodhound? Is it a great dane?) All we know for sure is that she's 100% good girl.

Opal is a senior lady who is heartworm positive, still intact, underweight, badly needs her teeth cleaned, is arthritic, and has a cataract in one eye. Thankfully, her bloodwork is good, her heart and lungs sound good, and she’s not done living her life. She is a feisty old gal that enjoys tootling around the house and yard, taking long naps on each and every dog bed in the house, and finding our which sweaters look the best on her (spoiler alert: it’s all of them).
She is dog friendly and very patient with even the youngest, goofiest dogs, but we have found that she and cats are like oil and water. She is snappy with cats when they come up to sniff her face and patrols the house looking for them, concerned about their intentions. She is housetrained but does need to go out every few hours. She enjoys snuggling on the couch with her humans while begging for snacks, sitting at their feet while they work, and cozying up to them in bed at night. She is incredibly easy to have around, never makes a peep, and is very low maintenance other than her pill regimen.
Unfortunately, Opal has tested positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

Bologna #815 adoption pending
Age: 9 months old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 49 pounds
Needs: A family home a good amount of the day/willing to work on separation anxiety
-
My basset has a first name, it’s BOLOGNA! We’re not just singing a jingle, Bologna #815 is a lively 9-month old neutered boy with a speckled red-and-white coat and ears that don’t quit.
He was surrendered by a family who didn’t think he was the right fit for them. He has some separation anxiety and gets worried inside a crate. He’ll need someone patient and willing to work with him, and preferably someone who won’t require him to be crated for long periods of time.
Bologna is always looking for physical touch and reassurance. He loves to cuddle and loves to play. He enjoys other dogs and strangers are just new friends. He loves walks and is an unusual
hound in that he’d rather follow a person before his own nose. He’d be okay in most backyard situations, although he’s athletic so a tall fence or a strong tie-out stake is a must.
Like his namesake, Bologna isn’t for everyone, but he’ll be the comfort his forever family needs in all snuggly situations. Apply for Bologna at https://www.mnbassetrescue.com/adoption

Bailey #819
Age: 5 years old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 51 pounds
Needs: No young kids (great with older kids), dogs or cats
-
Bailey #819 was dealt a short hand when he was fallen on by a climbing toddler. In surprise, he reacted, which resulted in his being surrendered. MNBR believes in second chances and Bailey’s proven that he deserves one.
At five years old, Bailey knows the drill. He’s housetrained, crate trained, walks on a leash, and is a stair pro. He doesn’t like getting caught in the rain but perhaps could be bribed if snuggling and pina coladas were involved. He also doesn’t like car rides, but that just means he’ll be even happier to see you when you get home.
Bailey knows not all kids are clumsy, and he’s enjoyed sitting with older (7+) children. He’s also very playful. His favorite game is tag with humans—and he’s “it”! Show Bailey you believe in him by putting in an application!

Mocha (Frankie) #820
Age: 1.5 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 38 pounds
-
Mocha (fka Frankie), a 1.5 year old 38 pound tricolor spayed female, joined MNBR as a transfer from a shelter in Texas. She is a sweet little lady that is people and dog friendly. She looooves toys and walks well on a leash. You’ll often find her curled up in a ray of sunshine like a cat. We found out through looking through her records that her original name was Mocha. Since she responds to the name we are calling her Mocha now.
We will update her bio as we learn more about her.

Rae #822 adoption pending
Age: 9 years young
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 47 pounds
-
Rae is 9 years young and came to MNBR when her owner, and then her bonded friend Roddie, both passed away. This lovely 47 pound senior lady is looking for a loving home to spend her golden years. She is people, cat, and dog friendly and is not opposed to a good chase and a game of wrestle with some younger pups. She is housetrained and leash trained and loves a good snuggle.
We will update her bio as we learn more about her.
