bob #728
Age: 2 years old
Color & Breed: Red & White Basset
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 56 pounds
-
Bob #728 is a 2-year-old red and white neutered male, weighing in at a very huggable 56 pounds. He’s a big lovebug towards his person with tons of energy that he directs to every dog he meets. He’s a fan of fetch and play and chase and run and any and every other active verb you can think of. Sometimes he can be a little much, but that just means he loves you! He loves to go-go-go and needs an active home with an equally enthusiastic dog partner or a family who loves activity.
Bob doesn’t like to be alone, although he is fine crated while his foster family is away. He enjoys snuggling under blankets during down time, and will do about anything for Cheerios. He’s got a killer recall at the dog park and is sensitive to his person’s needs. He also loves to swim!
Bob’s a big, strong boy who has been compared to an Energizer bunny. If you’ve been looking for a basset with the physical ability to keep up, he’s the guy for you!
Bob needs an experienced home with structure and without kids due to resource guarding tendencies. He’s learning how to share and other useful manners during his training sessions, which we encourage any adopter to continue. Look at that dopey face. Everyone needs a Bob.

-
Buddy #770 is a 2-year-old brown and white bagel. He’s neutered and, at 36 pounds, is the perfect lap size. Buddy was a stray in Oklahoma and is happy to have escaped the bad weather to come up north where there’s no snow (shh, don’t tell him.) He’s seen some things but once he has your trust (and he’s easily bribe-able with food), he’ll snuggle up for some love.
Buddy gets along well with the dogs in his foster home, although older, calmer, slower dogs are more his speed. He’s learning how to walk on a leash. He says he’d rather be home, wrapped up in a squishy blanket! He’d be fine as part of a mellow pack or as an only dog with a person who’s home a lot.
Buddy has tested positive for heartworm. He is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow him to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of his heartworm treatment, then adopt him once he is heartworm free.
MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

-
Ona came to MNBR when her family decided they no longer wanted to breed her. Ona is dog and people friendly.
We will update her bio as we learn more about her.
Unfortunately, Ona has tested positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. MNBR has clinics in MN, IA, WI, and ND that adopters can use for treatment.

Red was pulled from a kill shelter in Oklahoma where he’d been sitting for months, unknowingly heartworm positive and moving closer to death row everyday. Red is a happy, spunky boy that is dog and people friendly and can’t wait to start the rest of his life.
We will update his bio as we learn more about him.

Alex #799
Age: 3 years old
Color & Breed: Brown Basset Mix
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 46 pounds
-
Alex #799 is a 3-year-old spayed female basset mix who was living life on the lam in Texas and is now learning how to be Minnesota nice. Everything smells different here (and colder!) and she is loving it!
If you live near a dog park, Alex would love to check it out. She’s looking to meet some confident dogs with good leash manners to look up to. Alex is dying to be included in whatever people or dogs are doing (especially if it includes face and neck rubs! And good luck going to the bathroom alone ever again.)
Alex is looking forward to defending her future home from big, bad dog toys. She could be fine as an only dog if someone is there with her but would also enjoy being part of a pack. Bring Alex home and have fun trying to figure out what other type of hound she’s mixed with! (Is it a bloodhound? Is it a great dane?) All we know for sure is that she's 100% good girl.

Opal is a senior lady who is heartworm positive, still intact, underweight, badly needs her teeth cleaned, is arthritic, and has a cataract in one eye. Thankfully, her bloodwork is good, her heart and lungs sound good, and she’s not done living her life. She is a feisty old gal that enjoys tootling around the house and yard, taking long naps on each and every dog bed in the house, and finding our which sweaters look the best on her (spoiler alert: it’s all of them).
She is dog friendly and very patient with even the youngest, goofiest dogs, but we have found that she and cats are like oil and water. She is snappy with cats when they come up to sniff her face and patrols the house looking for them, concerned about their intentions. She is housetrained but does need to go out every few hours. She enjoys snuggling on the couch with her humans while begging for snacks, sitting at their feet while they work, and cozying up to them in bed at night. She is incredibly easy to have around, never makes a peep, and is very low maintenance other than her pill regimen.
Unfortunately, Opal has tested positive for heartworm. She is looking for a foster to adopt home that will allow her to live with them while MNBR covers the cost of her heartworm treatment, then adopt her once she is heartworm free. bonnie #807 Adoption pending
Age: 1 year old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 44 pounds
-
Bonnie, a 1 year old 44 pound spayed red and white female basset, came to MNBR after birthing and raising a litter of basset/McNabb Shepherd puppies in OK. She is dog, cat, and people friendly. She is a still a bit underweight, and has the legs of a “field basset” and is a very bonnie lass. She loves toys and has made herself right at home in her new foster home.
We will update her bio as we learn more about her.

Amy #809
Age: 2 years old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 50 pounds
Requires: Fenced yard and an established companion dog
-
Amy is a gorgeous 2 year old 50 pound red and white spayed basset with an oddly human name.
Amy lived her life in a commercial breeding facility so she is undersocialized to humans and unfamiliar with living in a home. While she is making a great strides in her foster home she will need time to learn how to dog, and a patient adoptive family with no or older children, a fenced yard, and a confident companion dog to show her the ropes.
Amy enjoys the companionship of the other dogs in her foster home and you’ll often find her cuddled up next to them on the bed or couch. She is quickly learning the art of leash walking and the joy of sniffing all the good spots around the neighborhood. The dog park is still a bit confusing with all the people, but she likes following her pack of dog friends around and sniffing around the perimeter.
Amy is doing well with her housetraining but will still need to be monitored and taken out regularly. She is getting more comfortable each day with her foster parents and enjoys sleeping in bed with them and curling up on the couch. She melts into pets from sitting humans, but standing humans and strangers are still a bit too scary.
Amy will take some time and patience but she is learning quickly and she is an absolute sweetheart. Give this girl a second glance. She’s absolutely worth it.

sammy #811
Age: 5 months old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Intact Male - Contract Required
Weight: 30 pounds
-
Sammy #811 was rescued from a commercial breeding facility and is learning how to be a house dog. He’s a very impressionable 5 months old and could use a confident older hound to show him how to be the best potato he can be.
Sammy loves both people and other dogs, playing hard and then looking for scritches and pats. He’s learning how stairs work and has been a model citizen on a leash.
A family looking for a puppy would enjoy Sammy a lot. He has a gentle way of playing and he loves to give kisses! He gets a little scared when he’s on his own but can be bribed with kibble. Show sweet Sammy that being a house dog is the best by adding him to yours!
Because we believe strongly in promoting the health of our dogs, MNBR does not spay/neuter puppies until six months of age. Intact puppies under 6 months old must be adopted in MN or within 250 miles of St. Paul in WI, IA, ND, or SD and with a spay/neuter contract. The cost of the spay/neuter is the responsibility of MNBR and reflected in the adoption fee.
Puppies are A LOT of work and a 12+ year commitment, so make sure you have thought it through and are fully ready for the responsibility prior to applying.

leo #812 application received
Age: 1.5 years old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 38 pounds - Underweight
-
Leo came to MNBR from a farm in OK where he lived in a goat pen. He had double cherry eyes which we have corrected. He is underweight but very sweet.
We will update his bio as we learn more about him.

Junior #813 adoption pending
Age: 8 months old
Color & Breed: Black Tricolor Basset
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 31 pounds
-
Junior #813 is a young, fun, playful 8-month-old neutered boy. He was found at a farm notorious for being used as a doggy dumping ground and brought to MNBR, where his medical needs were met and he’s now ready to find a forever family.
Can you hear that very smol howl? That’s Junior, playing with his foster siblings! He loves to make it when they’re wrestling around. He also has a rumbly purr that comes out when his ears are scratched.
Junior’s cat and dog friendly and would probably love hanging out with some kids. He’d fit in with any type of home and is raring to show off his crate, leash, and housetraining skills. He wanted us to let everyone know that he’s a master at finding all the best sticks, so if you’re in the market for a good one, Junior’s here to help!

Diva #814
Age: 4.5 years old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 54 pounds
-
Diva is no diva. A breeder release from Missouri, she is an incredibly sweet, chunky gal that is dog and people friendly. Her zest for life is contagious and you can’t help but smile when she looks up at you with her droopy face. She has super short legs, wrinkly cankles, and should probably lose a few pounds, but she loves to run at the dog park, leaving her foster mom in dust to find faster friends.
Diva enjoys wrestling with her foster dog sisters but she could be an only dog as well as she looooves attention. She is relatively good on a leash and could likely figure out a tie out as she just wants to be wherever her person is. Her housetraining is going very well, but she should still be monitored and taken out regularly. Overall, Diva is a lovebug that just wants a field she can run around in. a soft place to snooze, someone to snuggle her.

Bologna #815 application received

Tickle #816
Age: 2 years old
Color & Breed: Black/White Basset/Lab Mix
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 45 pounds
-
Tickle came to MNBR as a stray from OK. He is an active, friendly little guy that enjoys walks and swimming. He is people and dog friendly.
We will update his bio as we learn more about him.

Harlow Rae #817 applications received
Age: 2 years old
Color & Breed: Black Tricolor Basset
Gender: Spayed Female
Weight: 54 pounds
-
Harlow Rae #817 is a black tricolor spayed female basset. She weighs in at a chunky 54 pounds and could stand to go on a few walks (shh, we won’t tell her.)
Do you love watching reels and TikToks of judgy basset faces? Harlow has the perfect face to be the next social media star! (Is she the drama?) She’s a great listener and loves being near people. She is quick to make new human friends—every person who pays attention to her is her new favorite. She also gets along with the dogs in her foster home. She wasn’t quite sure about cats at first, but now that she’s realized they aren’t going to eat her, she ignores them.
Harlow walks on a leash, rides in a car, and can be bribed to hop in her crate. She’s fully housetrained and enjoys lounging wherever the humans are. She’s still working on figuring out how to play—why is everyone barking??—but she’ll come around. Maybe you can teach her a new game!

Mable #818 applications received
Age: 10 months old
Color & Breed: Tricolor Basset
Gender: Intact Female - Spay Pending
Weight: 60 pounds?!?
-
Mable joined MNBR from a commercial breeding facility. She is a very large girl for her age, and very bouncy and silly. While she seems friendly with people, she has likely never lived in a home before and will need to learn the ropes. She LOVES other dogs and would likely prefer a playful doggie companion to rough-house with in her new home.
We will update her bio as we learn more about her.

Bailey #819 On Hold
Age: 5 years old
Color & Breed: Red/White Basset
Gender: Neutered Male
Weight: 48 pounds
-
Bailey joined MNBR when he had an unfortunate accident with one of the grandchildren when they climbed over a babygate and fell on him, scaring him and resulting in a bite. We don’t believe Bailey is a bad guy, so we are keeping him during his quarantine hold and evaluating him. Once the hold is over we will be looking for a calm, adults only home for Bailey.
We will update his bio as we learn more about him.
