Delilah #651

Delilah is an 8-year-old beagle-hound mix that weighs 48 pounds.

This sweetie came to MNBR as a local stray and is loving the indoor couch potato life. She needs a moment when meeting new people, but once she realizes they’re friendly (and a good source of pets), she warms right up, giving full-body wiggles and greeting them with a howl. Speaking of her howl, she has an incredible yodeling howl so shared walls are likely not this songstress. She loves squeaky toys and snuggling with her foster mom.

Delilah is perfectly housetrained and her foster family allows her full access of the house when they leave. She lives peacefully with other dogs as long as they leave her food bowl and her emotional support blankie alone. She’s a good walking companion but is not a big fan of car rides. She enjoys hanging out in her fenced in back yard but could be fine on a tie-out. She hasn’t had any exposure to young children so older kids or no kids would likely be best. Delilah loves her people so could easily be an only hound and doesn’t mind being on her own, but would also be fine with low-key dogs.

callie #655 & Baker #656

One basset is great. Two bassets are even better! Callie #655 and Baker #656 are a bonded pair who were relinquished from the same home and are looking to continue spending together forever.

Callie is a 10-year-old red/white beagle mix who weighs 28 pounds. Baker is a lab/basset mix who is 13 years old and weighs 56 pounds. They are good with dogs. They were fine meeting a toddler, although Baker let his lab lack of personal space and awareness show.

Callie is good on a leash and loves to explore, including digging, climbing, and checking fences like a velociraptor, so a fenced backyard is in her future. She likes taking adventures and meeting new people, although at her age she also enjoys the warm lap dog life. At night, she pretends to sleep in her own bed until her fosters turn off the lights—then, she sneaks into their bed and snuggles under the covers.

Lab-basset Baker is a happy guy who is ready to do whatever you want to do! He loves snacks and will drool like Homer Simpson thinking about donuts. He enjoys putting on his harness for walks, and if there’s mud outside, even better! Both he and Callie watch out for each other like an old married couple.

Missy #658

Missy was born on April 5th, 2024 and will be ready to go home with her new family around May 31st when she is 8 weeks old. At six weeks she weighs about 6 pounds.

Missy is the chonky fluffball of her litter. She’s snuggly and has decided that sleeping next to her foster mom’s feet while she works is just as nice as sleeping in a puppy pile. She’s not as outgoing as her siblings, but that’s just because she’s hoping to be picked up and snuggled while they wrestle around and play. She has the softest coat of her three-puppy foster litter. She’s also made it her mission to make her foster uncle her new best friend.

Her mom Sheila was found pregnant as a stray and is 50% basset, 16% catahoula, 15% supermutt, 13% Plott hound, and 6% Pitt bull. DNA tests have been sent out on two of the puppies and we are waiting on results.

Because we believe strongly in promoting the health of our dogs, MNBR does not spay/neuter puppies until six months of age. Intact puppies under 6 months old must be adopted in MN or within 250 miles of St. Paul in WI, IA, ND, or SD and with a spay/neuter contract. The cost of the spay/neuter is the responsibility of MNBR and reflected in the adoption fee.

Puppies are A LOT of work and a 12+ year commitment, so make sure you have thought it through and are fully ready for the responsibility prior to applying.

Leslie #659

Leslie was born on April 5th, 2024 and will be ready to go home with her new family around May 31st when she is 8 weeks old. At six weeks she weighs about 4.5 pounds.

Whether it’s her photogenic white coat, her adorable eye patch, or her expressive personality, there’s something about Leslie that makes people fall in love with her immediately. She is the extrovert of her three-puppy foster home litter. She’s the first to check things out and is never afraid to leave the safety of her tiny puppy pack to face a new thing head-on. If you’re looking for a happy, bouncy, bold puppy to add some spice to your life, Leslie is ready to meet you.

Emily #660

Emily was born on April 5th, 2024 and will be ready to go home with her new family around May 31st when she is 8 weeks old. At six weeks she weighs about 5.5 pounds.

Do you love dressing dogs in clothes? Emily has the thinnest, lightest coat of all her littermates, and often finds that she’s a little cool early in the morning and late in the evening. She likes a good snuggle for warmth, whether it’s with a human or with her sisters. Emily was voted Most Playful in her mini puppy pack, initiating wrestling matches with whoever is awake and ready to play. Work hard, play hard is Emily’s motto!

Her mom Sheila was found pregnant as a stray and is 50% basset, 16% catahoula, 15% supermutt, 13% Plott hound, and 6% Pitt bull. DNA tests have been sent out on two of the puppies and we are waiting on results.

Matilda (Tilly) #667 & Penelope (Nell) #668

Tilly & Nell are 12 year old tri-color spayed basset hounds weighing 54lbs & 40lbs.

Twelve-year-olds Matilda #667 and Penelope #668 (or Tilly and Nel, if they’ve decided you’ve earned the right) are a bonded pair of golden girls looking for their forever home.

Tilly is the spicy one, bossing everyone around, barking at cats, and is dying to sneak out past curfew despite some arthritis that slows her down. Tilly will tell you exactly how she wants to be fed, how she wants to be petted, and how she wants to be played with. A quick game of tug is the perfect way to kill a minute before a belly rub (and if you do a good job, she’ll give you a smile!) At 54 pounds, she’s on a special diet and some joint supplements. Her foster mom says she’s a puppy at heart.

Forty-pounder Nel is Tilly’s ride-or-die. She’s ready for anything and can be convinced to explore at the drop of a snack. She’s a little shy with new humans but won’t hesitate to challenge other dogs, even puppies, to a wrestling session. Butt and ear scratches are her favorite pastime. Nel loves to sing, encouraging Tilly to sing backup. They love to sing a “we miss you” song when their foster mom leaves—even if it’s to go to the bathroom!

Both girls love making new friends, taking walks around the neighborhood and drives to the dog park. They also like to sunbathe in the yard. Both are housetrained, leash trained, and ride well in the car. They are used to having a human servant around and complain loudly when left alone, so no shared walls and a fenced-in yard are required.

Tootsie #671

Tootise is a spayed 6 year old red & white basset hound that is underweight at 49lbs.

Tootsie is dog and cat friendly, but is such a love that she would be fine as an only dog if she had a human to dote on her a good portion of the day. She is sweet-tempered, enjoys being petted, and stays very close to her foster parents. She enjoys cuddling on the couch or in bed, exploring the backyard, walking around the neighborhood, and roaming around the dog park where she loves meeting new dogs and people. Tootsie has a lovely personality and is an easy-going girl that would make her a perfect addition to a low-key family.

Upon arrival Tootsie was diagnosed with an inguinal hernia and suspected pyometra. Unusual results in her bloodwork had us concerned, but we are relieved to say that further testing has made lymphoma a much less likely candidate and Tootsie was spayed and her hernia repaired on 5/2. She has a two week recheck scheduled to remove her sutures and will need her bloodwork rechecked about a month after surgery.

Kinky #675

Kinky is a spayed 2.5 year old tri-color basset hound that weighs 40 pounds. She is new to living in a home with humans and walking on leashes. She will likely need help with housetraining and requires another confident dog in her new home. She is dog and cat friendly. She has a previous injury to her lip that occurred as a puppy that is fully healed.

We will update her bio as we learn more.

Waffles #676

Who likes waffles? Everyone, that’s who! Waffles #676 is a 2.5-year-old red-and-white female basset who weighs 38 pounds. She is new to living in a home, but is finding that it’s the best thing ever.

Waffles is on the shy side and can be skittish, so needs a confident hound to show her that there’s nothing to fear, especially when bassets are here! She is a bit more attached to her friend, Tulip (also adoptable!) than Tulip is to her. Waffles is learning how to walk on a leash and behaves fine on a tie-out. She’s working on potty training and can do the four stairs in her foster home.

Waffles needs a quiet family who’s willing to let her come to them. She’s happy to surround herself with her emotional support stuffed animals and stealing dirty laundry to line her crate. She’s getting curious about what’s going on around her, checking in on her foster people while they hang out on the couch or watching passersby through the window.

Waffles is in heat which delays her spay for two months. Her adoptive family would need to sign a spay contract and work with us to have her spayed once the 8 weeks have passed.

Robin #677

If you are looking for a pretty new addition to your flock look no further than Robin. She is a spayed 4 year old red & white female basset hound that weighs 46 pounds.

While she is new to living in a home with humans Robin offers wonderful glimpses into her silly, sassy personality as she settles into her foster home. She wiggles her whole with delight and barks for attention at meals times and rubs up against dogs that she wants to play with, licking at their faces. Her housetraining has been great as long as she is monitored and taken out regularly, though having another dog to follow is key. She can be skittish about new things so she requires another confident dog in her new home to help show her the ropes and a fenced yard to keep her safe until she is fully comfortable on a leash or line. She is dog and cat friendly and enjoys curling up in a dog bed next to her dog companions. Robin is starting to ask for affection from her foster mom, but she’ll need a family that will be patient and give her space to come to them when she’s ready for attention. She is shy with kids, so no or older kids would be best. Robin is a sweet girl just waiting to find the right family to help her spread her wings.

Trixie #678

Trixie is a spayed 5 year old red & white female basset hound that weighs 50 pounds.

Her foster mom describes Trixie as “aggressively friendly”—if she didn’t have extra-short legs, she’d probably be a great hugger.

Conversely, that love for humans means Trixie gets some separation anxiety and would not do well left alone for long periods of time. She also tends to bay when tied out. She’s perfectly chill in all other aspects of her life, though. She has no fear of other dogs or cats. Leashes are new, but during walks she keeps her nose to the ground and seeks out new scents.

Trixie wants to be an active member of her forever family. Are you sitting? Trixie will sit with you. Are you going somewhere? Bring Trixie! (Especially if it’s a trip to the pet store. Trixie loves soft toys!) Trixie is learning to be on a potty schedule, but it shouldn’t take long with someone home with her all day. Don’t delay—fill out an app and you, too, can be snuggle attacked by Trixie.

Dixie #679 - on Hold

Dixie #679 is a 5-year-old tri-color basset mama who weighs around 40 pounds. Her puppies Wade #680, Lemon #681, Annabeth #682 and Delma #683 were born on April 20 and are enjoying growing up in a happy home.

Dixie is nervous and submissive at first, but has shown to be curious and interested in the world around her. She is a caring mother who puts the well-being of her puppies first. Once her puppies are weaned, she should be fast to housetrain and will be up for adventure.

Although she is tied to her puppies right now, she seems to be fast and agile and would fit in well with any type of family. She’s looking forward to finding her new best human friend, especially if they love giving tummy rubs.

Dixie recently had a litter of puppies on April 20th and is busy taking care of her four little babies. In the meantime, she will work in some leash and housetraining skills in between feedings and naps.

We will update her bio as we learn more.

Tulip #684

Tulip is a 5.5 year old blue tri-color female basset hound that weighs 48 pounds.

She is looking forward to a life as a regular dog. Her worried look and furrowed brow hide her happiness! She only has one working eye, but the other one is perfectly sufficient for finding tasty treats around the house. She shyly waits in her crate for people to pay attention to her—and if they’re too busy, that’s fine too, because she has all her favorite stuffies in there with her.

Tulip is learning how to walk on a leash and what the deal is with housetraining. She is hoping for a quiet life with a confident hound friend. She is fine on a tie-out and can do the four stairs in her foster home with no problem. She’s been exposed to kids of all ages, and if they’re offering attention and approaching in small groups then she’s happy to be their friend.

Tulip is in heat which delays her spay for two months. Her adoptive family would need to sign a spay contract and work with us to have her spayed once the 8 weeks have passed.

Echo #685

Looking for a dog to keep you on your toes, but in a less active sort of way? Echo is a spayed 6.5 year old red & white female basset hound that weighs 68 gorgeous pounds.

She is an incredibly friendly lady that will follow you everywhere and constantly gets in your way as she attempts to anticipate your next move. She rides great in the car, walks well (if slow) on a leash, and is doing well with her housetraining. She met some kids at the dog park and seemed to enjoy them and sought out their company. She is a low-key lady that enjoys finding a soft dog bed to lie on, or, if you’ll get down on the floor, a nice lap to lie in.

Echo is dog and cat friendly though she would be fine as an only dog as long as she had humans around a lot of the time as she gets upset when they leave her sight. She is a big love that just wants to roll over for a belly rub and get lots of pets.

Echo has been diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy. This is a treatable condition, and our vet suspects it’s related to an inner infection. She isn’t able to close her eyes all the way which dries them out. She is also being treated for skin and ear infections. This doesn’t affect her zest for life and love of walks and the outdoors.
